FAQS
1) What is a rheumatologist, and what conditions do you treat?
I specialize in treating autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that affect the body's joints, muscles, and bones. I treat a wide range of these conditions, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
2) I thought arthritis only affects older adults. Can children really get it?
Yes, children can get an autoimmune arthritis called Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), in which the body's immune system causes inflammation in the joints. My specialty is diagnosing these conditions early to prevent joint damage, manage symptoms, and help your child live a full, active life.
3) What types of treatments do you use? Is it just pain medication?
My approach goes beyond pain management to control the underlying autoimmune disease. I use advanced and safe medications and targeted biologics to calm the overactive immune system. Each treatment plan is personalized and often includes physical therapy, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations to support your overall health.
4) What can I expect during my first visit?
Our first appointment is a comprehensive consultation dedicated to understanding you and your health concerns. We will have an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, your personal and family medical history, and how your condition is affecting your life. I will also perform a thorough physical examination.
5) Where are your offices located?
To best serve my patients, I see patients at two different locations based on their age:
Adult Patients: My adult rheumatology practice is located at 1 Metro Blvd, Clifton, NJ.
Pediatric Patients: I see all patients under 18 at my pediatric rheumatology practice at 30 Prospect Avenue, Hackensack, NJ (Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital).
Philosophy of Care
My goal is to be a support for my patients through the most challenging stages of chronic disease. I combine a passion for discovering new, effective treatments with a commitment to evidence-based medicine to create a personalized plan for each patient. I believe the best outcomes come from a strong partnership built on trust and open communication. My ultimate aim is to empower you or your child with the knowledge and support needed to manage your condition and live your fullest life.
