Ahmet S Can, MD

Ahmet S. Can, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship trained endocrinologist who specializes in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism, and thyroid disease. Dr. Can joined Hackensack Meridian Medical Group in 2023. Prior to joining HMH, Dr. Can held numerous positions in private practice and combined outpatient and inpatient services. Dr. Can believes that flawless communication between patient and physician is the key for preventing illness and treatment success. He values healthy eating, proper nutrition, and feasible physical activity as the first step to prevent many of today's health problems and investigating and strengthening the immune system to reduce inflammation and autoimmune diseases.

Dr. Can was the Endocrinology Educator of the Year in 2021 as well as earned the Best Quality Improvement Project in 2019, both awards from the AOMC, an affiliate of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. Can has served as an Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director, Associate and Adjunct Professor, and has conducted research on Endocrinology matters with Weill Medical College of Cornell University as well as independent research. He is a member of the American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Society. He is also a member of Interfaith Team Member Resource Group formed by employees of Hackensack Meridian Health to promote understanding and dialogue among different faith followers at Hackensack Meridian Health.
