Alex F Lazo VAsquez, MD

Alex Lazo-Vasquez, M.D., is a board-certified physician in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Driven by a curiosity about health, humanities, and overcoming disease, Dr. Lazo-Vasquez prioritizes comprehensive patient care and continuous learning. He is dedicated to serving diverse and underserved communities. 

In his previous role, Dr. Lazo-Vasquez was a dedicated medical educator, serving as volunteer clinical faculty at Rowan School of Medicine at Newton Hospital. He taught and mentored 3rd and 4th-year medical students during their clinical rotations.

Dr. Lazo-Vasquez served as Chief Medical Resident and Clinical Educator at Morristown Medical Center from 2018-2019, leading resident training, overseeing inpatient services, and spearheading the implementation of a point-of-care ultrasound curriculum for the internal medicine program. He also completed his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Jackson Health System/University of Miami Hospitals and Miami VA from 2019-2021, where he managed patient care across three hospitals, focusing on a range of infectious diseases.

Dr. Lazo-Vasquez has contributed to numerous medical publications including research that has been published on Oxford Academic’s Open Forum Infectious Diseases. In addition, he is fluent in Spanish and is an active member in American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Infectious Disease Society of America, HIV Medicine Association, Infectious Diseases Society of New Jersey, National Hispanic Medical Association, and Health Volunteers Overseas.
