Dr. Ayotunde Adeyeri is a board-certified and fellowship-trained bariatric, advanced laparoscopic and general surgeon specializing in bariatric weight loss surgery and other GI region operations.
He serves as medical director of The Institute for Weight Loss at Old Bridge Medical Center, leading a team of specially-trained bariatric professionals to help people overcome the chronic disease of obesity and weight-related medical conditions. The Institute for Weight Loss in Old Bridge is MBSAQIP (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program) accredited, a national accreditation that advances safe, high-quality care for bariatric surgical patients. A bariatric surgical center achieves accreditation following a rigorous review process during which it proves it can maintain certain physical resources, human resources, and standards of practice. He also maintains a private surgical practice with offices in Holmdel and Old Bridge.
Education and Professional Training
Dr. Adeyeri completed his general surgery residency at Columbia University's Harlem Hospital Center in New York, where he was appointed Chief Resident from 2006-2007. During his residency training, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in transplantation immunobiology.
At the University of Rochester, he completed post-doctoral fellowship training in minimally-invasive and general surgery, specializing in bariatric surgery, specifically the gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding insertion and removal, revision surgery and duodenal switch operations.
Dr. Adeyeri is married and the father of three daughters. His interests outside of medicine include cheering on Manchester United and being active with his family.
