Hitomi Asano, LAC

Dr. Hitomi Asano, L.Ac., DAOM., is a NCCAOM board certified acupuncturist who recently joined the Integrative Health and Medicine team at Hackensack Meridian Medical Group. Prior to joining HMH, Dr. Asano provided services as the Lead Acupuncturist at AOSMI in Freehold, NJ and Advanced PMR in Manalapan, NJ. Dr. Asano is a published author of the Effectiveness of Acupuncture for Nonspecific Chronic Low Back Pain: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies. Upon graduating from USC, she was a pre-med intern at St. Francis Medical Center, but found herself disheartened by Western Medicine’s prescription-based approach. As a result, Dr. Asano chose to focus on prevention, health and wellness, and pursue a degree in Oriental Medicine. She received her Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA in 2018. In addition, she has earned a Doctorate Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a specialization in musculoskeletal disorders from Emperor’s College in 2021. Dr. Asano utilizes acupuncture to bring the body back into balance and support homeostasis- alleviating dis-ease in the body and creating a general sense of well being.
