Dr. Jason Wong is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He serves as the Section Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and the Director of Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement at Southern Ocean Medical Center, where he is dedicated to building a premier orthopedic service line for the community.

Dr. Wong specializes in both orthopedic sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. His expertise includes arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, as well as total hip and knee replacement.

He completed his advanced fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Temple University Hospital and his orthopedic surgery residency at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. During his residency and fellowship he assisted in the care of professional athletes from the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.

A leader in the community, Dr. Wong provides comprehensive care for local high school athletes, treating all athletic injuries, both operative and non-operative. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS) and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Not automatically. Surgery is typically considered only after non-operative treatments have been explored. Many common conditions can be managed effectively with physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, or injections. We will work together to determine the least invasive path to get you back to your life.

2. What is arthroscopic surgery?

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows me to diagnose and treat joint problems through small incisions. By inserting a tiny camera into the joint, I can perform precise repairs to ligaments or cartilage. This approach results in less pain, minimal scarring, and a much faster recovery than traditional open surgery

3. When should I consider a joint replacement?

Joint replacement surgery is a highly effective option for patients with advanced arthritis whose pain and stiffness significantly limit their daily activities and quality of life. It is generally recommended when non-surgical treatments are no longer providing relief. The goal of a hip or knee replacement is to relieve pain and restore function, allowing you to move comfortably again.
