Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What is Bariatric Surgery?
Bariatric, or weight loss, surgery is a group of procedures designed to help individuals with obesity lose weight by making changes to the digestive system.
2. Am I a candidate for weight loss surgery?
Candidacy is determined on an individual basis, but it is generally considered for individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or a BMI of 35 or higher with associated health conditions.
3. What are the different types of weight loss surgery you perform?
Some of the most common procedures I perform are the Sleeve Gastrectomy, where a portion of the stomach is removed to reduce its size, and the Gastric Bypass, which creates a smaller stomach pouch and reroutes the digestive system. I also perform revisional surgery for patients who have had previous weight loss procedures.
4. What is recovery like after minimally invasive surgery?
Recovery is much faster compared to traditional open surgery. Patients can expect less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a quicker return to their normal activities.
