Karl William Strom, MD

Dr. Strom earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and his master's degree from Montclair State University. He attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada in the West Indies. Dr. Strom completed his general surgery residency program at Westchester Medical Center at New York Medical College and was selected as chief resident. He remained at Westchester Medical Center to finish a minimally invasive surgery fellowship.
Dr. Strom is highly regarded in the field of bariatric surgery (including gastric band, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy), revision bariatric surgery, laparoscopic surgery and general surgery. He uses minimally invasive techniques to treat disorders and diseases of the hernia, gallbladder, colon and spleen.
Highly respected in his field, Dr. Strom serves as a proctor, teaching other bariatric surgeons the latest techniques and technologies. He has published in numerous medical journals on topics related to bariatric surgery and laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Strom is proud to have overseen the successful "Bariatric Center of Excellence" designations at Mountainside Hospital, Bayshore Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center (he has affiliations with these facilities).
Dr. Strom stays on the leading edge of his field through memberships with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Medical Association and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery. He is consistently ranked by his patients and receives the highest patient satisfaction scores.
