Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child have arthritis?
Joint pain is common in children, and not all joint pain is caused by arthritis. During the evaluation, we consider your child's symptoms, physical exam, laboratory tests, and, when needed, imaging to determine the underlying cause.
Will my child need medication long term?
Treatment depends on the diagnosis and severity of the condition. Some children require medication for only a short time, while others benefit from longer-term treatment. My goal is always to use the safest and most effective approach for each child.
Can my child continue to play sports and be active?
In most cases, yes. Staying active is important for overall health and joint function. We work together to manage symptoms and tailor activity recommendations so children can safely participate in the activities they enjoy.
What types of exercises do you recommend for your patients?
I encourage children to stay as active as possible. The best exercise is one they enjoy and can do consistently, whether that's walking, swimming, biking, dancing, or playing sports!
