He treats Pediatric patients with critical illnesses including post-operative monitoring, trauma, acute brain injuries, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure and sepsis. He believes in a team approach to care. And he is committed to family centered care and the importance of listening to children and their families. He also appreciates the support of social work and child life in helping a family though the trauma of a critical illness in a child.
Philosophy of Care
Two things that attracted me to Critical Care were the physiology and the ability to support physiology with technology. I enjoy the critical thinking necessary to manage critically ill children and support them through their illness. I also enjoy the wide range of illnesses seen in the Pediatric Intensive Care. Beyond the science, I feel very strongly that as healthcare providers, we are creating a story for the patient and their family. And it is critical for us to work hard to support children and families through the illness knowing that the story will be part of their life forever. Working as a team with other physicians as well as nurses, social work, child life and other ancillary services is essential to helping create a good story for patients and their families.
