Michael Louis Caparelli, MD

Michael Caparelli, M.D., M.S., is a colorectal surgeon who recently joined
Hackensack Meridian Medical Group, performing surgeries at Hackensack
Meridian Southern Ocean Medical Center. Dr. Caparelli performs a full range of
general and colorectal surgery procedures using open laparoscopic, robotic and
endoscopic techniques. Prior to joining the team, he was an attending surgeon
at Mercy Health General and Laparoscopic Surgeons in Fairfield, Ohio.

Board certified in general and colorectal surgery, Dr. Caparelli earned his master's degree in
biomedical sciences from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York.
He earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in
Grenada, West Indies. He then completed his general surgery residency at
Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by a colon and rectal surgery
fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Caparelli has authored more than 35 publications, posters and presentations,
and is involved in ongoing colorectal cancer research. He is a member of the
American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of American GI and
Endoscopic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American
Medical Association.
