After serving as a general pediatrician for many years, I would often moonlight in various pediatric emergency departments to augment my income. I have grown to appreciate the knowledge gained and encounters faced in working in a fast pace of a pediatric emergency department-not knowing the next medical challenge coming through the door. These tasks have kept me on my toes with the feeling of never being bored. There is also the instant gratification of seeing crying patients smile in a short while. Having done this at Hackensack for almost 22 years, I continue to accept this great commission and medical charge.
