Sameer Jamal, MD, FACC, FHRS, is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and is the Program Director of the Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship Program at Hackensack University Medical Center.


Dr. Jamal is an accomplished physician-scientist with extensive experience in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology research. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, serves as a reviewer for leading scientific journals, and has presented his work at national and international medical conferences. He remains actively involved in research at Hackensack University Medical Center and has served as principal investigator on both sponsor-initiated and investigator-initiated clinical studies.


In addition to his research and clinical practice, Dr. Jamal holds several national leadership roles. He participates on national committees within cardiology and electrophysiology societies and serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine Cardiac Electrophysiology Question Writer Committee, contributing to the development of the cardiac electrophysiology subspecialty board examination.


Dr. Jamal is deeply committed to medical education and physician training, teaching at all levels and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. He was accepted into a competitive combined 8-year BS/MD program, earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Brown University School of Medicine, followed by a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Washington Hospital Center, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. He then completed advanced research and clinical fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, serving as Chief Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellow.


Dr. Jamal combines advanced expertise, academic leadership, and evidence-based care to advance the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and improve patient outcomes across New Jersey.
