Shaan Kataria, MD

Shaan Kataria, MD is a radiation oncologist at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, serving as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at the Cancer Center at Totowa. He also cares for patients at St. Joseph's University Medical Center. Dr. Kataria is a Washington D.C. area native who earned his medical degree at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in Radiation Oncology and served as Chief Resident. With a passion for providing comprehensive and compassionate cancer care, Dr. Kataria has a special interest in treating a wide array of malignancies, including those of the chest, breast, brain and spine, head and neck, prostate, and hematologic, gynecologic and gastrointestinal systems. He has extensive experience utilizing advanced modalities of radiotherapy including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy. He is dedicated to a personalized, multidisciplinary, and evidence-based approach to patient care. An advocate for clinical research, Dr. Kataria is committed to advancing the field of oncology and offering his patients access to the most innovative and effective treatments available. He aims to enhance the world-class, comprehensive cancer services offered at the John Theurer Cancer Center and the new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center at Totowa.
He holds membership at national organizations including the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
