Sondra Maureen Nemetski, MD

Hackensack University Medical Center
As a pediatric emergency medicine physician, I treat children with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, from simple fevers to complex conditions and major trauma. As an attending physician in the pediatric emergency department at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital, I have the privilege of caring for a large and diverse population with complex medical needs alongside a team of dedicated nurses, technicians, therapists, and subspecialists from every division of Pediatrics.
In addition, while I certainly love the energy and immediacy of the pediatric ER, I firmly believe that an emergency physician's role extends beyond making diagnoses and initiating treatments. To me, one of the most satisfying aspects of caring for acutely ill patients is the opportunity to provide comfort and compassion to those who need it most.
Philosophy of Care
The thing I love most about working with children is the way they force you to embrace your imagination and curiosity. A child finds it completely reasonable for a sticker to have magical healing powers and will eagerly touch every item in an exam room to see what it does. Their exuberance and bright-eyed wonder is infectious. When a child is ill or injured, there is nothing more rewarding than helping them get better and back to exploring with their families.
