Varun S. Pandya, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vascular neurologist who specializes in the acute and chronic management of stroke. He specializes in ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and related cerebrovascular conditions, from the first critical hours of an emergency through long-term secondary stroke prevention.

Dr. Pandya completed both his neurology residency and his vascular neurology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where he trained at the Stern Stroke Center, a high-volume urban comprehensive stroke program. There, his clinical and research work focused on building systems that get patients evaluated and treated faster.

He was a co-investigator on a prospective trial that created a standardized rapid inpatient care pathway for patients presenting with TIA, which demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in hospital length of stay and in recurrent admissions at one year, and led to a rapid outpatient follow-up program for TIA patients. He has also studied the clinical and pathologic features of symptomatic carotid web, an under-recognized cause of stroke in younger patients.

Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Pandya has authored many posters and presentations, as well as contributed to several publications and manuscripts.
