FAQ:
“Am I going to be okay?”
A breast cancer diagnosis can be a scary and overwhelming time, and this is often one of the first questions patients ask. Dr Naughton reassures patients that many breast cancers are highly treatable, and many patients diagnosed with breast cancer today do very well. Every breast cancer is different, so she takes the time to explain each diagnosis, what it means for them, and what to expect as they move forward with treatment.
“How will treatment affect my life, and when can I get back to my normal activities?”
Dr Naughton’s goal is to help patients recover safely and get back to the activities that are important to them as soon as possible. She talks with each patient about what to expect during recovery, including returning to work, exercise, and everyday activities, which can vary depending on the type of surgery and any additional treatments that may be recommended. She also reminds patients that they do not have to manage everything on their own–the multidisciplinary breast cancer team works together to support them throughout treatment and recovery.
