Joshua Glass, MD

I am a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, and I consider it a true privilege to care for children and adolescents with both cancerous and non-cancerous blood disorders. I chose this specialty to offer strength and clarity to families during their most challenging times. The most meaningful aspect of my work is witnessing the incredible courage of my young patients and walking alongside them and their families on their journey toward healing. My clinical interests cover a broad spectrum of conditions, with a primary focus on leukemia and histiocytic disorders, as well as non-malignant blood disorders such as cytopenias and bone marrow failure.
Most Frequently Asked Questions
What types of conditions do you treat?
I treat all types of childhood cancers, including leukemia and lymphomas. Additionally, I manage a wide range of non-cancerous blood disorders such as sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and complex anemias. My focus is always on creating a precise and effective treatment plan for your child's specific diagnosis.
What will my child's treatment involve?
Treatment is highly personalized but may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or other targeted drugs. We will discuss the best plan for your child based on their specific diagnosis.
How will you keep my child's other doctors informed?
I see myself as part of your child's broader healthcare team. I will communicate directly and regularly with your pediatrician and any other specialists involved. This collaboration ensures your child's care is seamless and fully integrated.
How do you help my child feel comfortable during treatment?
I understand that medical treatments can be frightening for children. My team and I are specially trained to care for young patients, using age-appropriate language to explain what is happening. We work closely with child life specialists to help minimize fear and anxiety through play and other coping strategies. Helping your child feel safe and informed is a key part of my job.
Philosophy of Care
My core philosophy is to build a partnership with patients and their families based on trust and open communication. I strive to create an honest and supportive relationship, which I believe is essential for helping families feel comfortable during what can seem like an impossible time. By working together as a team, we can navigate the complexities of treatment with compassion and a clear understanding at every step of the way.
