Justin Jose Joy, MD

Justin Joy, M.D., is a nephrologist, board certified in internal medicine and board eligible for nephrology. He is dedicated to treating kidney disease and hypertension, and being a trusted partner for his patients. By combining clinical excellence with empathy, compassion, and open communication, his goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected, and confident about achieving the best possible health outcomes.
To Dr. Joy, each patient is unique and deserves a personalized approach. He wants patients to understand their illness, and why they are receiving the medicine that they are. He focuses on an evidence based approach customized towards the patient all while working with them.
Dr. Joy believes that to give the most meaningful care, he must listen to the concerns, values, and circumstances of the patient. Additionally, building a relationship with the patient based on trust is essential, because medicine is most effective when there is a strong partnership. This is why Dr. Joy always strives to work collaboratively with a patient to develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that fits their life while also empowering them to make sustainable change.
Dr. Joy completed medical school at St. George’s University, residency in Internal Medicine at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, and finally, to round off his expertise, a fellowship in nephrology at Northwell Health Zucker School of Medicine. He is also a part of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians.
Outside of work, he enjoys weight training, watching movies with friends and family, playing sports & video games, reading, and trying new restaurants.

There are other options, including a kidney transplant. Dr. Joy is dedicated to finding you a transplant center and seeing if you are a candidate, if that is what you want. If not, he can discuss other options with you during your appointments.
