After many years practicing both obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Walsh now works full time in gynecologic care. She brings decades of experience to caring for and educating women at every stage of life, from adolescence through menopause and beyond. She enjoys working with a diverse population of women of all ages, backgrounds, shapes and sizes, and welcomes members of the LGBTQ community.

Her outpatient practice focuses on wellness and prevention and really helping women understand their own bodies and health issues.  Her areas of special interest include menopause and perimenopause care, hormone therapy, sexual health and menstrual disorders. She also offers non-surgical options for pelvic prolapse.

Dr. Walsh considers the "whole patient." She takes time to understand each woman's lifestyle, social circumstances and health habits, and how these affect her overall health. She practices in the communities where she grew up and raised her own family, and she values getting to know her patients over many years, often across generations of the same family.  She is an avid reader, a big fan of live music, spending time in NYC and staying active.

Q:  Where is your practice located?

A: We have two practice locations.  Our primary location is at 1924 Rte 35, Wall, in the Old Tudor Village plaza across Rte 35 from Aldi. Parking is plentiful and easily accessible.  Additionally we have a second location at Jackson Health Village location at 27 South Cooks Bridge Road, Suite 2-19, Jackson, NJ 08527.

Q: I'm having hot flashes and trouble sleeping. Is hormone therapy safe for me?

A: For many women, yes. For healthy women under 60, or within about 10 years of menopause, the benefits of hormone therapy for symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats and sleep problems usually outweigh the risks. It isn't right for everyone, though. I'll go over your personal and family history, including any history of breast cancer, blood clots or heart disease. Then we'll decide together whether hormone therapy or a non-hormonal option fits you best. We'll also keep checking in so we can adjust your treatment as your needs change.

Q: My periods have become very heavy and are affecting my daily life. What can I do?

A: Heavy bleeding is common, especially during perimenopause, and it can be treated. First we'll find the cause, which may involve an ultrasound or a hysteroscopy (a look inside the uterus with a thin camera). Causes include hormonal changes, polyps and fibroids. Depending on what we find, treatment might be medication, a hormonal IUD, removal of polyps or fibroids, or endometrial ablation. Ablation is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that reduces or stops heavy bleeding. It's a good option for women who are finished having children, and most women return to normal activities within a few days.
