Nasim Ahmed, MD

Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified general surgeon and board-certified surgical critical care specialist. He has been practicing trauma surgery, surgical critical care and acute care surgery for about 20 years. He is involved in research activities and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. You can find him at a variety of locations, including Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, where he contributes both clinically and academically.
His most recently published article “Prediction of Trauma Mortality Incorporating Pre-injury Comorbidities into Existing Mortality Scoring Indices” shows how the novel TMS accurately predicts mortality in the majority of the trauma victims. Using this scoring system, one can calculate the high-risk patient in all types of trauma patients. This tool will help point of care physicians to allocate appropriate resources for the care of the patient. This scoring system can also help guide the shared decision-making process in certain circumstances.
