Patrick Popiel, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Urogynecologist & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon known for managing complex pelvic floor disorders and performing advanced minimally invasive surgery (vaginal, robotic and laparoscopic). He brings deep clinical expertise and a strong academic background.
At Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Popiel served as Assistant Professor in the departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Urology, Director of Resident Simulation, and Director of the Urogynecology rotation and sub-internship. He was instrumental in developing surgical education initiatives and enhancing pelvic floor care across a multi-hospital network.
An active clinical researcher, Dr. Popiel has numerous peer-reviewed publications, podium presentations, and national meeting abstracts. He is a recipient of the NYMC Faculty Author Award for a first-author publication in the institution’s highest-impact journal.
Dr. Popiel is recognized by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists for excellence in minimally invasive surgery and is frequently relied upon for challenging surgical cases. He has served as a faculty mentor for multiple medical students and residents and is a graduate of the APGO Surgical Education Scholars Program.
Lastly, Dr. Popiel works closely with other surgical subspecialties to offer patients a multidisciplinary approach when complex medical problems require such collaboration.
