Dr. Payal Makadia provides a broad expertise in the care and management of children with various gastrointestinal diseases. Her clinical interests include abdominal pain, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and feeding disorders. During her medical training, her research focused on the role of the intestinal epithelium in facilitating visceral pain. Through her research efforts, she has been able to apply her knowledge to better understand the mechanism of pain in functional gastrointestinal disorders. In addition to patient care, she has an interest in medical education.

Philosophy of Care: As a pediatric gastroenterologist, I understand the importance in utilizing a multidisciplinary approach. I strongly value the role of nutrition as an important part of treatment and recovery. My goal is to build genuine and trusting connections. Taking the time to listen and provide education is essential in developing an individualized treatment plan for each of my patients and families. I stand by providing excellent patient care and will work hard to meet your needs.

I think the doctor did an excellent job in listening to my concerns because that's something that, as a parent, you want to be heard, especially when it comes to symptoms. In our situation, I had an illness that I know is genetic, and I just didn't want her to go through that, too. So I thought it was important to bring that up. And she was very, very open to listening. The only thing that I would probably I guess, maybe change between maybe the availability. I, I understand that they're very busy as the doctor is a great doctor, but maybe if, you know, just appointment time, I think I got very lucky because there was a cancellation, but I, I remember somebody mentioning in the front desk that I think there weren't any other appointments up until January, I would say. So, yeah, I wanted to that's the only thing that I would maybe change just like more options or availability in a closer proximity.

My daughter said she really enjoyed the visit with the doctor. She felt that she was very nice there, taught her a lot about what to eat and how to manage her stomach issues.
