Robert R. Goodman, M.D. is a board-certified neurosurgeon with a passion for helping patients with epilepsy. He attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his neurological surgery residency at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. He also completed a neurological surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and has advanced fellowship training in epilepsy surgery from the Montreal Neurological Institute.

As an innovator in his field for more than 30 years, Dr. Goodman has helped develop modern treatments for epilepsy and established one of the first multidisciplinary epilepsy centers in New York City. His focus on surgical treatments for epilepsy is an uncommon subspecialty, enabling him to give his patients advanced and innovative care.

Although Dr. Goodman’s specialty is the neurosurgical treatment of epilepsy, he sees patients with all types of movement disorders and neurological conditions. His expertise includes the treatment of general neurosurgical conditions (including spinal conditions), trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, normal pressure hydrocephalus, brain tumors, tremors, and Parkinson’s disease. He also specializes in high intensity focused ultrasound.

Dr. Goodman has written more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and publications. His dedication to expanding knowledge within the physician community is illustrated through his role as professor of Neurosurgery at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, and his time spent on the treatments committee of the American Epilepsy Society.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Goodman believes that his unique training and experience has allowed him to develop highly advanced procedures, giving his patients a wide range of minimally-invasive treatment options.
