Rocco Bassora, MD

Rocco Bassora, M.D., is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in shoulder reconstruction and sports related injuries of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by a dual fellowship in Shoulder Reconstruction and Sports Medicine in Los Angeles, under the influences of renowned shoulder and sports specialists, Dr. James Tibone and Dr. John Itamura.

Dr. Bassora has particular interest in the treatment of shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff tendon tears, shoulder instability, as well as tendinous, ligamentous and meniscal injuries of the knee.

Dr. Bassora makes it a priority to evaluate all treatment options prior to surgery. When surgery is required, he uses minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, and is an expert in the latest image guided procedures. These include anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement surgery, arthroscopic rotator cuff tendon repair, arthroscopic and open shoulder stabilization procedures, shoulder fractures, as well as arthroscopic knee ligament and meniscal surgery. Dr. Bassora, along with his surgical care team, ensure a great patient experience so his patients feel comfortable and confident from their first appointment through post-operative care following surgery.

Dr. Bassora is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow surgeons, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. He has been named a New York Top Doc and a Select Surgeon in Bone and Joint Surgery by New Jersey Monthly. He holds Top Doc status with Castle Connolly and Bergen County Magazine.
