Scott W Smilen, MD
Dr. Scott W. Smilen is Chair of ObGyn at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He is board-certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and ObGyn. He graduated from Yale University and spent most of his career at NYU School of Medicine. Well-recognized for expertise in vaginal surgery, he has authored national guidelines on topics including pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence and is currently Vice Chair of the publications committee for the American Urogynecologic Society.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Smilen believes that each patient is unique and has individual needs. Careful listening is critical to establish what each patient's goals are. A collaborative plan can then be developed with each patient, to meet these objectives, always focusing on limiting risks by starting with the least invasive approaches possible.
