Dr. Maghsood's Frequently Asked Questions
What health and wellness advice, related to your specialty, do you often share with patients to maintain their health?
- The health and wellness advice I share most often centers on building a strong foundation for lifelong health. This begins with promoting healthy habits, such as fostering a positive relationship with nutrition, encouraging an active lifestyle, and ensuring consistent, restorative sleep. Alongside these daily practices, I stress the importance of regular check-ins, which are our dedicated time to partner, be proactive, and track developmental progress. Finally, I always highlight the importance of mental and emotional well-being, as nurturing a child's resilience and creating a safe space to discuss feelings is just as vital to their overall health as any physical measure.
What can we expect during a typical well-child visit?
- A well-child visit is a wonderful opportunity for us to partner in monitoring your child's health and development. During these visits, we will perform a complete physical examination, track growth patterns, and administer any scheduled vaccinations. Just as importantly, we will discuss developmental milestones, nutrition, sleep habits, and age-appropriate safety. These appointments are designed to be interactive, so I encourage you to come prepared with any questions or concerns about your child's physical, emotional, or social well-being. Our goal is to be proactive about your child's health and to provide you with the guidance you need at every stage of their development.
What is your approach to vaccinations?
- I am a strong advocate for childhood immunizations and follow the vaccination schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Vaccinations are one of the most effective public health measures to protect children from serious and life-threatening diseases. I understand that parents may have questions or concerns, and I am dedicated to providing clear, evidence-based information to help you feel confident in your decision to vaccinate. Ensuring the health and safety of your child and our community is my top priority.
How do you handle same-day sick visits and after-hours concerns?
- We understand that children get sick unexpectedly, and we make it a priority to be accessible when you need us. Our office reserves a number of same-day appointments for acute illnesses and urgent concerns. Should your child become ill, please call our office as early in the day as possible to schedule a visit. For questions or concerns that arise after regular office hours, we have a system in place for urgent matters. There is always a pediatrician on call who can help you determine the best course of action, whether it's providing home care advice, recommending a visit to an urgent care center, or heading to the emergency room.
