Anton Svetlanov, DO


Dr. Anton Svetlanov is a board-certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders. He is an assistant professor of Neurology at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Dr. Svetlanov sees adult patients at the Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center. He diagnoses and treats all types of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, Parkinson-Plus disorders (atypical parkinsonism), Huntington disease and other neurodegenerative and genetic diseases, essential tremor, dystonia including spasmodic torticollis, hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm, and other hyperkinetic movement disorders. In cooperation with colleagues at the JFK Movement Disorders Center he offers innovative therapies for patients, including Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. His expertise includes botulinum toxin therapy for facial and neck dystonia.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Svetlanov is engaged in patient and medical professional education, delivering presentations at public educational events, lecturing and mentoring residents and medical students.
Dr. Svetlanov earned his medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his neurology residency training at the Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Svetlanov completed a fellowship in Movement Disorders at Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He also holds a doctorate degree in molecular genetics from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
Dr. Svetlanov is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society.

He collaborates closely with colleagues in rehabilitative medicine, neurosurgery, physical, occupational and speech therapy, psychology, psychiatry and internal medicine to ensure each patient receives complete, personalized care.
