Pankaj Sharma, MD

Pankaj Sharma, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurointerventional neurologist specializing in the medical and endovascular management of vascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord. His expertise encompasses a wide range of conditions, including ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, carotid stenosis (carotid artery disease), brain aneurysms, cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cerebral and spinal arteriovenous fistulas, intracranial hypertension, Moya Moya disease, and cerebrovascular atherosclerotic disease. He also treats other vascular malformations of the brain and spinal cord.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including neurosurgeons, neurologists, radiologist, and rehabilitation experts, Dr. Sharma strives to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care, ensuring patients are informed and involved in every aspect of their treatment. He is passionate about utilizing the latest techniques and resources to deliver optimal outcomes, and continues to work on developing 3D printing models of neurovascular pathologies.
Dr. Sharma completed his medical education at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, India. He then pursued a neurology residency at the University of Louisville. Following his residency, he undertook three fellowships: a Neurovascular Fellowship at the University of Miami; an Interventional Neuroradiology Fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center; and an Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Fellowship at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Sharma has contributed to several book chapters and journal publications and has presented at several vascular and interventional neurology conferences. His research interests include acute stroke interventions, intracranial atherosclerotic diseases, and brain aneurysms. He is also a member of several professional organizations including: the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, the American Stroke Association, and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
