Philip A. Hanna, M.D., FAAN, is the director of the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center at the Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey and the Neurological Director for the Huntington’s Disease Unit at JFK Hartwyck at Cedar Brook, Plainfield, NJ. He is a professor of Neurology at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

Dr. Hanna is a firm believer that technology alone cannot drive innovation.  Advancements in diagnostic services play a key role in the identification and treatment of Parkinson’s and other movement disorders, such as dystonia, tremor, chorea, and tics, early on to sustain quality of life. He works closely with other neurological specialists for a comprehensive approach to care, integrating subspecialities including neurosurgery, sleep medicine, and neuro-ophthalmology, as well as physical, speech and occupational therapists.

An integral part of Dr. Hanna’s work involves research and clinical trials. Not only does this afford physicians the opportunity to learn more about disease, but also gives patients opportunities to participate in innovative therapies from early stages of their conditions. Dr. Hanna is active in clinical trials as principal investigator, including as part of the international Parkinson’s Study Group and Huntington’s Study Group.

Dr. Hanna has many peer-reviewed journal publications as well as authored or co-authored several book chapters in the field.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Hanna believes in providing continuity of care throughout a patient’s journey. Understanding how a person’s disease impacts their daily activities or affects their familial and social interactions is integral.

“Not only does it form a bond with the patient but also enables us to explore what other modalities can we introduce to maximize function and quality of life.”

All is good
Dr Hanna is the best at administering the Botox injections to provide relief from cervical dystonia. I speak from experience of dealing with this disorder for 25 years. He is always thorough and sensitive to his patients needs. Dr Hanna is easy to talk to and helps you make the best out of a not so pleasant procedure that is necessary in order to give me a better quality of life. Thank you Dr Hanna!
Keep it going!!!
DR HANNA IS VERY GOOD, HE TAKES HIS TIME WITH YOU
I brought up that I'm having headaches, either allergy or tension headaches. I am ?well aware that he doesn't treat my allergies, however he didn't even address the tension headaches! So no he did not address the tension headaches. I used to suffer from migraines, but they are gone. I appreciate that he asks about them. But what about the Tension headaches?
